Introduced in August 2011 without a press-release, the iMac (Late 2011) was available only to education customers, and was a price-reduced version of the iMac (Mid 2011). It had less RAM, a smaller hard drive, and half the number of processor cores. It shipped in a single configuration, with a 3.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core i3 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a 250 GB hard disk, for $999. Up to 8 GB of RAM could be configured when built-to-order.
