Notes
The MacBook Pro's second graphics chipset used a portion of main memory as VRAM. Though reported as a 256 MB graphics system, the chipset actually used up to 272 MB of RAM.
Introduced in June 2009, the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2009) was a speed-bump of the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009), released only five months before. The processor speed was increased to 2.8 GHz, and the hard drive capacity was increased to to 500 GB. The MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2009) shipped in a single configuration, with 4 GB of RAM, for $2499, and was replaced by the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) in April 2010.
